Accurate color rendition is essential to proper seeing. A light with too little red, for example, will show red details as "brownish" and may even reduce perception of other details. A light with too much of one color (such as yellow-orange) may appear to enhance that color but will actually distort it – along with all of the others! Incandescent bulbs, for example, are high In red and low in blue, so they give things a warm appearance. Nice, but not accurate compared with natural outdoor light. How The UV in Vita-Lite Plus Aids Visual Perception

Many common objects, such as paper, plastics and textiles, are subtly fluorescent.
